Circular – 30th March

IMPORTANT – POSTAL DELIVERIES

Many clients have post delivered to our offices and we have always forwarded that post on to you.  However, the offices are currently unmanned.  We strongly recommend that if you are one of those clients that you use the Royal Mail Forwarding service.  Please ensure that if you do use this service that you complete the form in respect of your own company only.  You will need identification.  The relevant form can be downloaded at https://www.royalmail.com/business/manage-mail/redirection-diversion

If you wish to contact us by mail please do not send anything BY POST addressed to the office.  If possible please send as an e-mail attachment or as a photo to one of the contact e-mails on the home page of our website.  If this is not possible, please call 01925 428896 for further advice.  Our contact details are repeated at the end of this circular.

FURTHER UPDATE ON CORONAVIRUS JOB RETENTION SCHEME

  1. You need to get agreement from your employees to designate them as furloughed workers and reduce their pay to 80%, capped at £2,500 per month
  2. You can designate employees as a furloughed worker if they are PAYE and were on your books on 28th February 2020
  3. The scheme applies to all types of employee contract including full time, part time, zero hours and variable hours
  4. Once people recover after being on sick leave or in self-isolation, they can be furloughed
  5. Anyone made redundant from 28th February 2020 can agree to be brought back and placed on furlough
  6. Furlough must be for a minimum three weeks, but employees can be placed on furlough more than once
  7. Wages must be paid to employees first and then reclaimed through an online portal

If you want a draft letter to send out to employees then please email sara@warringtonaccountants.co.uk who will be pleased to forward one to you.  If you think that this does not apply to you as you are the only employee of your own limited company then think again.  You may be asked for this letter from you as employer, and your agreement to the change in your status as the employee, by HMRC.  Therefore, best to be prepared and have it all ready.  After all, it costs nothing but failure to do so could be very costly.

FURTHER ANNOUNCEMENTS ABOUT INSOLVENCY, ETC

We will write about these, other measures over the weekend as well as anything announced today in our next circular.
